Gore-Tex

In 1969 WLGore create ‘for the first time this material.
Starting from PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), better known as Teflon, a process similar to ironing got a thin microporous membrane with a billion four hundred millions of microscopic pores (diameter of about 0.0002 mm) per square centimetre, the size of which do not allow the water molecules to penetrate but to allow the passage of water vapor molecule (seven hundred times more ‘small).

Being a very delicate membrane, it is coupled to an outer material and an inner liner, which is why ‘the market are clothing for trekking in laminated Gore-Tex 2 layer, where the membrane is coupled only to the outer material and not the inner liner, and laminated Gore-Tex 3-layer, where the three materials are firmly united with one another.
The Gore-Tex 2 layer is more ‘light and fluffy, and therefore ideal for the city’ and activities’ normal sports, the Gore-Tex 3-layer and ‘more’ activity in resistant and preferred ‘more’ challenging (such as mountaineering).

The Gore-Tex and ‘a highly permeable membrane and at the same time, waterproof, excellent protection from the rain but not, as many mistakenly believe, for the cold.
