Key Tips to Building a Good Tent

outdoorblogGoing camping is fun. You leave the creature comforts of your home and hit the outdoors and are exposed to the elements. That isn’t as luxurious as being in a five-star hotel or even constructing a modular building, but it’s not meant to be. You can be sleeping amongst coyotes, snakes and raccoons while it being windy and cold.

Such being the case you need a tent that is going to shelter and protect you. The key to building a good tent begins with the location. You want to pick out a location that will allow a tent. Often people do this without thinking and go through the process of building their tent. When they are finished they start to realize that maybe they didn’t select the best place to do so. Tips for Picking a Camping Knife

Outdoor BlogOne of the best things about camping is that it’s simple yet unpredictable. While you don’t usually have too much to worry about — no bills, no unexpected work — you still have to brave the elements. No camping tool is more adept or equipped to help you through any task than the classic knife.

Even though the knife has been demonized over the years, it’s actually a very functional tool that comes in handy while camping. Whether you’re whittling, opening supplies, cutting wood or cooking, the knife is an indispensible piece of camping gear.

If you’re interested in picking up a good knife for your next camping trip, here are some things to keep in mind.

Decide what you need the knife for.

Determining what type of knife fits you best for camping depends on what you’re going to use it for. If you’re the type of person who enjoys bushcraft or heading off the trails on an adventure, you should go for something more equipped to handle a wide range of tasks. Continue reading

The Essentials for Luxury Camping

Here in the UK, Glamping is the new way to camp and enjoy the great outdoors.  Glamping trips tend to involve visiting specific and dedicated Glamp sites with luxury tents, wigwams or chalets.  Here are some of my tips to add some Glamping to your next camping trip and still visit the locations of our own choice and probably save some costs too!

A Good Night’s Sleep

If you’ve ever seen some of the luxury tents advertised at Glamping sites they are huge and some even have four poster beds! Is this even camping still I asked myself, but it did make me think that just because we are sleeping outdoors it’s not cheating to try and be comfy.  Campers of the world it’s ok to take a camping pillow to sleep on, you don’t need to roll up a jumper, getting a good night’s sleep will only help you enjoy your camping holiday more.  If space is an issue then a self-inflating pillow is the way to go. What Kind Of Camper Are You?

There are basically three types of campers out there. The camper that insists that, even though he’s in an RV with an electrical hookup at a place like Jellystone Park with showers, a pool and more because he lights up his grill to cook some burgers and maybe sits by the campfire for half an hour at night… He and his family are camping. Riiiiight. Then there’s the guy and that has what amounts to a 4-bedroom house of a tent, all the latest and greatest camping gear, air mattresses and cozy sleeping bags for everyone; and a couple of yard games just in case the kids get bored.

Will Camper Number Three Please Stand Up?

Now we get to the real camper; not that camper number two is that far off. This guy wears not only fatigues and army boots but has all the latest survival gear on the market. He fishes in the nearby stream; and has both a hunting knife and a gun with him just in case. His first aid kit makes a rescue squad look anemic. Continue reading

Camping Tents

camping tentsMost tourists want to purchase a model that would allow them a stay of several days or weeks per year at a campsite using the best camping tents.

Camping tents equipped camping spaces are used, and should not be required to meet the constraints of those who must face some difficult conditions during the year.

People who go camping space they need. They need to feel comfort and safety of their hotel room, in nature.

A common model for such situations is waterproof outer liner of minimum 3000 mm water column and waterproof floor liner 4000-5000 mm. In general, these camping tents models are made of polyester with polyurethane coating. Polyester is resistant over time, and affordable. We recommend the use of aluminium sticks of 8.5 or 9 mm to have a great life. The two or three sticks, must intersect in one or three points to ensure stability unannounced camping tent during a storm.

Like any model, the buyer must choose sizes. Number of people is the choice of buyer, but it is advisable to calculate a person plus luggage. Camping tents models may be higher, 130 -140 cm should provide reasonable comfort needs of most tourists.

Like any versatile model should have two entrances. A good ventilation will make the air breathable and comfortable to stay inside, even on hot summer days. Families with no children, but not only, we recommend insect whose models can be closed. Even summer can be created this year, if you have some serious rain accompanied by strong winds.

Those wishing to buy their first model, will meet plenty of “experts” in tents, generous with information on the characteristics of Tabernacles. This site wants to be a good buying guide for all that they want to buy a quality product. Site content is intended to be an objective, presenting the advantages and disadvantages of various technologies used. The argument “X is good company,” has no relevance. What define a quality product are its characteristics. The firm may be an additional argument, a confirmation that what he said on the packaging manufacturer, is in line with reality.

There are things that should not give any arguments “specialists”, such as waterproof outer liner, minimum 3000 mm waterproof sheet floor: minimum 5000 mm aluminium sticks when choose your camping tents.

Camping life

Let us now see the daily life in the camp. A typical argument is that of eating. Who can also carry the gas from the field, must take account of some details. Meanwhile, the burner must be equipped with a small screen around the flame, so that the slightest breath of wind would undermine its integrity. Another aspect to consider is the material they are made of the pots: absolutely not take the dishes in aluminum, as quickly begin to lose metal, with black cutlery and other things. I will not quibble on the alleged toxicity of aluminum ingested, but it certainly is not healthy! So even though they cost a little more and are harder to find, are preferable to steel kitchenware. Still on the subject of eating, I suggest you keep with you the envelopes of pre-cooked food (usually keep the rice ready, those cooked in 10 minutes) are the lifeline when you arrive in camp late, and everything is already closed! Another tip, this time for breakfast is to bring a giant jar of Nutella (the mythical …): lasts for many lunches, never fails, and eventually save a lot ‘compared to the packaging of biscuits buy on the spot, as it will only need to buy the excellent and cheap fresh bread!

When you’re around for many days, usually after a week you have to wash something, unless you go around as many foreigners I have met (the filthiest in general are the Germans!). After years of testing, we finally decided that the best soap for the washing liquid is compared to the traditional soap of Marseille: it is more convenient to use and, if used wisely, lasts longer (assuming a small container, ie bike!). Also with regard to washing, then the problem arises of how to hang out the laundry washed without dropping it after 30 seconds that was lovingly hung out to dry. There are three solutions: the first is to draw a double line, slotting between a wire and the other clothes, but you must have a very long thread. Or, you can route the wire inside the clothes that is to hang a shirt you run the wire inside the sleeves that you cannot fall to the ground! But the clothes often find themselves crowded into the center of the wire, crumpled and, above all, no one knows how to hang clothes without holes (like socks or towels). Then, comes into play the third and final chance, a genius found my girl, that is, to use the classic hairpins as a kind of pegs: take the clothes to stop any kind of wind, and take up very little space.

Finally, I give some advice on swimming. Meanwhile, as you can imagine, the hours are the busiest in the early morning: usually in camp life begins very early, around 8, and the “traffic” there is more around 8:30 / 9. Therefore, you should go to the bathroom outside of this time (about departures intelligent “…). Now I’m talking about two very precious advice he gave me some ‘years ago a dear friend of mine, great traveler. Both concern a specific “act” very embarrassing to be treated, but since I’m valuable advice, I win my shyness and talk too! The first lays the groundwork for the second. En route, they often suffer from constipation and after a while ‘days really becomes a source of discomfort: the best laxative of all, without having to resort to drugs, is the Mac Donald’s! We have seen, and now it is proved that after a couple of meals from the gut starts to turn Mac, and if you go to eat at least once a day, regularity is guaranteed! Try it!

After placing certain “bases” should “exploit” in full! We often make the real European-style stunts to defecate in water without touching anything, producing absurd positions and tired. The advice I give is to make the “Turkish” on the classic water, putting squatting on the edge of the cup (I’ll explain: go up over the cup, and then you squat “Turkish”): this ensures a relaxed position that you can keep for as long as you like without fear of cramping or soreness different!
