Outdoorblog.org

Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes what I often consider my favorite activity: camping. To me, there isn’t anything better in life than sitting around a campfire,  roasting marshmallows and waking up the following morning to a quiet and serene wilderness.

If you’ve got kids, you likely know that camping with them can go one of two ways. I often camp with my young nephew, who happens to be a trooper, but when I’ve gone on big outings with lots of family, I’ve seen the worst of the worst. In order to keep kids happy and behaving, you need to make your camping trips unique. Check out some of these things I’ve done in the past to accomplish just that. Continue reading

Staying Hydrated During Cycling Trips

Outdoor BlogMost athletes know that hydration is one of the most important parts of their game plan. Those people that are hydrated will perform much better than those people that are not; it is as simple as that. By staying hydrated at all times, your body will be able to perform at a much higher intensity levels and be able to deal with much harsher conditions in terms of weather.

Cyclists generally go long distances before resting. This is one of the best forms of Continue reading

A skiing date with Chamonix Mont Blanc

Outdoor Blog“Taking our first free ride to The Brévent ski station was quite an experience as it’s a bit steeper than first impressions. But as experienced skiers my friend Alison and I were looking for a little bit of a challenge from our base in the centre of Chamonix. It really is a quite wonderful mountain town with a great atmosphere, and it was nice to see so many families mingling together.

There are five main resorts here and the 49 lifts are working all year round. The facilities are second to none and it’s a fantastic free ride resort, though you always need a little patience as the traffic is heavy. People come here from all over the world for obvious reasons and this includes the best skiers. You do get the feeling it’s sporty rather than competitive which is good, Continue reading
